DeLorme, the innovation leader in navigation technology, selected GeoPro for its best-in-class personnel tracking application and Iridium short burst data (SBD) network expertise.
DeLorme inReach promises to revolutionize the way people stay affordably connected in areas not covered by cellular phones. Its capabilities address the needs of anyone from outdoors enthusiasts to professional users in remote outposts. A key component of DeLorme’s solution is the satellite messaging gateway and web application that will be powered by GeoPro. Among other functions, it will enable users to select a rate plan and activate their service, and share their tracking and messaging activity, and manage and route all tracking and text messages. “GeoPro was a natural partner for us,” explains Jim Skillings, DeLorme Vice President for Commercial Products, “their platform was superior to anything we’d seen. The DeLorme inReach two-way satellite communicator made its commercial debut on November 15, 2011, and will operate as a standalone device, or can be paired with DeLorme’s PN-60w or any Android phone for additional messaging and mapping capabilities.

Toronto, Ontario – May 13, 2011 – Today GeoPro LBS Inc. launched release 1.5 of its GeoPro web application. With this release, GeoPro has introduced support for and expanding portfolio of commercially available GPS-enabled communications devices that can interoperate with its web application for improved safety, monitoring and communication with personnel in the remote field. This is a significant advancement that enables organizations to choose from a broader range of trackable field devices.
Initially, compatible devices include the SHOUT nano from NAL and the GeoPro Messenger. An expanding range of compatible devices is planned.
Release 1.5 also includes enhanced international SMS support and the ability to reply directly to SMS messages received from a GeoPro compatible field device.
